How to remove the stuck brake caliper piston?

When the brake caliper piston gets stuck and cannot be removed, we can try to reactivate the piston and perform appropriate polishing treatment. During the processing, butter can be added in moderation to enhance the lubrication effect. If the fixing screw is not properly returned, it may cause the brake to bite too tightly, thereby accelerating the wear of the brake pads.
The brake caliper is an important component in the brake system, located in front and behind the brake disc, and usually contains one or more pistons inside. When we step on the brake pedal, the piston is subjected to pressure, pushing the brake pads inward to clamp the brake disc, thereby achieving braking deceleration.
It is worth noting that the effectiveness of braking does not only depend on the number of pistons in the brake caliper. In fact, the braking effect of a car is influenced by various factors, such as oil circuit design, brake master cylinder, pedal design, selection of brake oil, brake discs and brake pads, etc.
For example, some American Bigfoot cars use single piston floating calipers, but the pressure of the calipers is strong enough to cause severe wear on the brake discs of ordinary family cars. In contrast, multi piston calipers have a larger friction area, a more compact volume, and more precise brake feedback.
In summary, when facing the problem of brake caliper piston jamming, we should first check whether the fixing screws are back in place, and then take measures such as polishing the piston and increasing grease lubrication to deal with it. Meanwhile, a deep understanding of the working principle and influencing factors of brake calipers can help us better maintain and upkeep the brake system, ensuring driving safety.
